One of the annoying things of the Soarer is that you can't see the clock unless the car is running or the key is on "acc". I have found a way to correct this oversight by Toyota.
First thing I did was remove the vent with a screwdriver.
I was lucky to spot the perfect clock at one of those self serve wrecking yards. It is from an old Rover.
the wood grain is a perfect match and it looks like a factory fitted clock.
I tried to fit it in the ashtray but it looks much better in the vent.
The clock keeps very accurate time and makes a satisfying tick when the numbers click over. Other than this the clock is silent. And as you can see the space age numbers not only suit the soarer but are clearly legible day and night.
A perfect solution.
