Alternatives

Rotors and pads are now available from EBC and are highly regarded as aftermarket replacements / upgrades.

Locally, DBA have had rotors in development for over 6 months and may well now be available.

Exotic 2 piece rotors with alloy hats are available from various Japanese and American suppliers.

The Supra 4 pot braking system is well supported by aftermarket suppliers worldwide

Steps to Upgrade

Preparation

Ensure your wheels will clear the large front calipers –   positive offset (45mm) as a guide (AND the shape of the inside of the wheel face must be designed to clear large calipers. Offset is not the only thing to go by - the wheel must be designed to accommodate the large calipers) and anything under this will either need replacing or longer wheel studs and spacers will need to be used (Emanuel needed long studs and spacers because his wheels fouled the calipers).

Decide if you will be using new or used calipers

Decide if you will use genuine Toyota or aftermarket rotors

Decide if you will trim the undersize front dust covers or if you will replace them with correct sized ones

Decide if you will be replacing your park brakes shoes whilst you have the brakes apart

Purchase and collect all parts for the upgrade

For used calipers, have them sand blasted and overhauled by a brake specialist using the Toyota cylinder kit and spray paint them with protective caliper paint

From the Removal, Installation and Service Manual attached familiarize yourself with the location of all parts and the disassembly and assembly procedures before beginning.
